Egyptian Architecture, Furniture and Art
Going back to my notes on Egyptian decor because I’m going to design a Egyptian kitchen for my decorative arts class. Hope it all works out, I’ll post photos once it’s done!
Characteristics of Egyptian Architecture:
Rectangular forms and straight lines are its dominating features, walls are thick, simple forms and few moldings are seen.

We all know about the Mona Lisa, but here are some of the other “mona’s” that have shaped the art world.
I stumbled upon this while researching for something. Photos are an easy way to make a your living space more homey. Try some of these ideas.
Manila Fame (March 2012)
Whoohooo! I got my Manila Fame invite in the mail yesterday!

I went to the Manila Fame exhibit last year and was really inspired to see the designs and new products that our fellow filipinos have created. They are really works of art and good quality as well.
They have furniture, fashion accessories, gift items and the like. 2 floors of SMX, can you imagine?! It brings a big smile to my face when I see all those beautiful pieces in one place. It’s like being a kid in a toy store!
Unfortunately, most of the products in the exhibit are exclusive to foreign buyers only. Nonetheless, its nice to see that filipinos have created these wonderful pieces of art.
I just added a new tab on my tumblr page, its some of my paintings from 2005-2008. Have a look, let me know what you think.
For our Elements of Design final project, we had to create a table setting with a theme in mind. This had to incorporate everything we learned that term, including: spot, line, shape, figure organization, texture, value, color, mood and balance.
The theme: Mad Hatter Tea Party. Fun right??! Well, maybe at the beginning and end but while we were fixing up it was crazy! We were given a 10 feet x 10 feet space, we had to make it look like it was wonderland.
So what we did was created a background that made our little space in the classroom feel like a forest, we stuck dried leaves on plastic and put some dried up tree branches on the sides. Added a little color with the pompoms we hung on the ceiling and combined different types of chairs that were old. (thankfully Jocar’s family have a furniture shop! we had a blast picking which chairs to use). To make it a bit more inviting, we put persian carpets under the area of the table and chairs.
Our setting was a bit too formal for our teacher, he was expecting something more MAD, although he thought the look was great.
I had so much fun being Alice and as a group we had so much fun sharing our food with the other groups! We got to taste different types of food because the other teams had crazy themes too: pirates, spring garden, beach sunset, masquerade, valentines brunch. A fun way to start the end of the first term of PSID! :)
